The biggest little burger place in town.
Terry's Turf Club
4618 Eastern Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45226
Terry’s Turf Club is a little East End (4618 Eastern Ave) bar & grill specializing in burgers and neon. Owner (Terry) once was the proud owner of the defunct downtown Neon’s. Maybe that explains the hundred or so neon signs at Terry’s. The little pub is literally wall papered with them, inside and out.
Little is the key word. Our visit involved walking in to see 53 faces turning our way. After a brief but confident scan across the room we spied the only table left, right behind us, beside the breezy door. It was only left because sitting at that table required one of us to squeeze & shimmy 3 feet through an 11” space, without toppling the adjacent table (and all their beer) over into the crowd. That would have created a dangerous domino effect of tables crashing that certainly would have evolved into a burger bar brawl that we were unequipped to deal with at the time. It was tight but we heard it was worth it. It is.
The menu: buns, everything is on a bun. Beef burgers, cod, scallops, lobster, chicken and specials. We ordered 1 chicken & 1 beef burger. There are many gourmet cheeses and homemade sauces to apply however we stuck with old school toppings. The burger was definitely worth the effort, the chicken was better than average. The prices are about $10 a head, the decor will give you a neon tan and the tables are so close you might make a new lover. All in all it’s an experience, let alone a damn fine burger.
