Moler Raceway Park Eastside’s rockin’ race place

Moler Raceway Park 2059 Harker Waits Rd. Williamsburg 444-6215

If your a Nascar fan but your missing out on the action of the live races because all the high costs these days are crimping your credit card you might find live dirt track racing is more exciting than you’d think. For all you racing junkies that have been craving a snoot full of exhaust fumes from a 600 horsepower motor ripping by at 109 miles an hour we got your fix. Well we don’t have it but we certainly know where to get it... Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg.

Last year the track just opened and this year the track is packed. People come from all over the country to tear up the dirt here (and collect the prize money). The race we attended had a nationally recognized driver that came from California to race here in Williamsburg. Drivers traveling from far off states is common place now (but still very appreciated and announced on the loud speaker).

Sure Nascar has higher speeds, bigger tracks and even bigger name drivers (not to mention way bigger prices). However, dirt track racing has drivers just as crazy as the Nascar boys, the same big bore race motors (that are just as loud, trust me) a track with a perfect view from anywhere, wrecks you can actually feel, and much much shorter lines at the concession stand and Budweiser booth (rest rooms too).

It’s a 15-30 minute trip from just about anywhere on the Eastside, parking is free, and admission is cheap (general admission for regular events: adults $13, children 0-6 free, children 7-15 $5, pit passes $25 all ages). Considering it’s all night entertainment it’s a deal let alone affordable.

Be fore warned now, the track is up close and personal to the stands, sit too close to the front and don’t complain about some clay in your face now and then. That’s what makes it so fun though! You feel like you could reach out and get your hand taken off when the big bore Late Models come thrashing down the track in front of the stands. It’s almost scary.
The rumble of all that horsepower echoes all across the woods and forget about trying to talk on a cell phone when the screaming demons are fired up, you’d have walk almost out to the parking lot. Just kick back and let it go to voice mail... this is race night! This is hot pretzels, cold beer and ear deafening live racing at its best, missed calls from people missing out can wait.

The Late Models are the big dogs in the dance but many other models race here too and are very popular as well. You’ll see 600cc/1000cc Mini Sprints, UMP Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Chevettes and 4 Cylinder Classes. At special events they have vintage American race cars (non-points) Enduros, Street Truck grudge races and demolition derbys.
The track also has a car show & cruise in on special Sunday events and a flea market. The Moler Raceway Park has even more plans to add other types of racing and events this season

They are also adding a go-kart track, for the fast go-karts (not the little putt-putt golf kind).
All in all the Moler Raceway Park is family fun at an affordable price. Adrenaline is the only drug the kids will get hooked on hanging out around here and that’s not a bad thing. Racing is a perfect sport for parents to introduce their kids to. It’s more fun than any ball game, there’s no excuses about coaches and teammates holding them back, it’s character building, requires dedication and discipline, not to mention has real career potential. After all where do you think all the Nascar drivers built their skills at.... The Dirt Track!
For more info on all the rules, photos, schedules and even videos visit the track web site at
