Lt Dan’s New Legs: It’s hot, it’s live, it’s hip hop!

Here’s some new blood to Cincy Vibe. Lt. Dan’s New Legs. We caught the show at Jefferson Hall just to see exactly what kind of music these guys (and gal) play. It was surprising for certain. It’s far from your average rock music, it’s not even classic or punk or modern or hard edged or pop rock or even rock at all. Nor is it country either. It’s live band rap hip hop. Done right.

The band has played all over the country and even the world. Their show is hot hot hot and unlike any you’ve seen to date. The band’s stated intention is “...covering material not attempted or successfully interpreted by any other live band... to tackle heavily produced music that otherwise was meant for studio and airplay only. No tracks, CDs, or sequences are used in their live performances. All sounds and elements of the songs performed are created live. Every show is performed live with tasteful instrumentation and two power house lead vocalists. This is all delivered without the use of backing tracks; a difficult thing to do in hip-hop music today.” To accomplish that playing Lt. Dan’s New Leg’s set list is quite a feat too. They cover The Black Eyed Peas and B.I.G., Lil Jon and Lil Wayne, DMX and Run DMC, Naughty By Nature and Nelly, Micheal Jackson and Eminem. They also incorporate a few choice original tunes as well. Radio ready of course.

LDNG is most impressive with the 2010 spin they impart into each song. Even though the tune may be 15 years old, the way they play it, it sounds like it just hit the streets. Big bold dual rap vocals, sexy smooth bass lines, a dancing guitar, kool keyboard work and snappy percussion all come together with a live MTV vibe.

Then there’s the dancing! The two front men would easily impress Paula Abdul with their fancy footwork. The choreography is obviously well rehearsed and quite exciting to see live. They never miss a beat. They never even pause between songs long enough for the crowd to clap. It creates non-stop entertainment, but I doubt many people in the audience can keep pace with this band. If possible they might consider even a slight pause for applause. But hey, too much action is never a valid complaint. It’s a must see show. See the show live on October 9th at Jefferson Hall in the Newport Levy. Wear your dancing shoes.
Check out the band at ldnl.net they have videos, schedule and much more. Including their own clothing line which is awesome.
