Jammin' with 3 Day Rule

3 day rule isn’t a new band. Their name is one of the most consistent on the band guide for years. How do they stay booked so solid? What’s the key to their success? How do they avoid getting mundane day jobs and still buy new cars?
I intended to sit down with the 3 Day guys and find out but immediately after the show, but they were whisked away (via a blacked out sprinter van on 24’s) and disappeared into the night. Some say they were taken to a secret pre-dawn monthly meeting with top ranking Shriner officials. Others say they are simply avoiding local police attention, as the band is under FBI investigation for criminally disrupting an underground tea party meeting (by blasting “We’re not going to take it” through 100K watt speakers, drowning out the speaker of the event). Still others insist they were framed. All I know is, 3 Day Rule wields some serious clout in the local band circuit.
3 Day Rule are regulars on the hot spot gigs such as Taste Of Cincy, Party In The Park and Reds & Bengals games (They will be at the PBS Fan Zone on the 4th). Not to mention the hot spot clubs such as J-Hall, Pirates Den, Knotty Pine, Rick’s, J&B’s and many more in and outside Cincy.
Long time members Sergio (bass), Lenny Z (percussion), JD (keys), Johnny (Lead vocals) and new comer Sean Riley (guitar) have all graduated up the ranks from other bands and give 3 Day the pro look and sound that has earned them consistent spots in the top gigs in town.
Razor sharp guitar licks, precision percussion, brain bouncing bass, creative keys and a front man with a degree from the David Lee Roth School of Showmanship provide the prowess, technique and entertainment required to pull off hit covers in fine fashion. The crowds dig it and that’s the true test.
The set list reads well for just about any inebriated youth in attendance:
Cee-lo, F.U.N., Maroon 5, 3 Doors Down, Blink 182, Buckcherry, Bush, Fuel, Godsmack, Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, Puddle of Mudd, Shinedown, Smashmouth and Tool (to name a few) keep the set list current. Classics with a twist from; Van Halen, Tom Petty, Ramones, Skynyrd, Sublime, Journey and John Mayer are mixed in. They even dish out some Lil Wayne and Tupac too. How can you go wrong?
Many bands struggle for years to get decent bookings and never get on the stages of the high caliber clubs 3 Day Rule take for granted. You have to be dedicated as well as talented to get there. Don’t assume with all this hoorah they’re prima-donnas, they play the cool pubs with just as much enthusiasm as the hot clubs and that shows just how pro they really are.
Normally, Jammin’ is focused on spotlighting the newest bands in Cincy. Not so with this one. This is an affirmation article. It’s intended as an AMEN! to a band busting ass and paying the bills. Much lesser bands have graced our humble cover, it was time to shine the spotlight on a band that earned their place on our wall of covers. If you dig the set list, you need to see the band! Keep an eye out on the band guide for 3 Day Rule at a venue near you. See more at 3dayrule.com
